BonePainII Informal Career Talks 2021: Being passionate about what you do!

On 11 March 2021 Iain Chessell, Global Head of Neuroscience, BioPharmaceuticals Research & Development at AstraZeneca, UK, gave an inspirational career talk to the BonePainII ESRs in the BonePainII Informal Career Talks Serie. 

Iain Chessell presented the choices he had made in his career. He stressed the importance of diversity, people and integrity in his various positions. “Being passionate about what you do”, “know what drives you”, “is there a better way to do things?” and “take risks – get out of your comfort zone” were some of the key take-home messages from his talk. 








Camilla Svensson, Professor in Cellular and Molecular Pain Physiology at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden

On 6 May 2021 Camilla Svensson, Professor in Cellular and Molecular Pain Physiology at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden, gave a great and personal talk on her career and the path she took leading her to her current position as Professor at Karolinska Institutet. She was very open about some of the difficult decisions she had had to make along the way. She explained the driving forces behind her career choices and discussed other factors, which had had an impact on her career path. 

Both Camilla Svensson’s and Iain Chessel’s talks were a great source of inspiration for all the BonePainII fellows.
