What if you are always in pain? BonePainII students participated in the Betweter Festival 2021 – a Dutch science Festival.

Two BonePainII PhD students Patricia Ribeiro and Christian Martin Gil from University Medical Center Utrecht participated in the science part of the Betweter festival on 1 October 2021.

The Betweter Festival is for everyone who wants to know how the world works, who does not shy away from new experiences and who likes to wonder. It is an indoor festival where visitors can explore science, music, cinema and art performances.

Together with colleagues, Patricia and Christian had a booth called “What if you are always in pain?”. Here visitors could participate in several small experiences related to pain. They could fill in a questionnaire about their definition of pain and the most common painful areas in the human body and had the option to measure their pain threshold levels with a live analysis of the data. Visitors could also report their experience with hot and cold pain sensation.
